Mergermarket Trendspotter: M&A has bounced back to pre-COVID levels as low interest rates, digital transformation fuel activity

In their Nordic Trendspotter 1H21, Mergermarket has talked to our Chairman Dan Moalem, who agreed that an abundance of capital is driving the Danish market. Sellers are initiating processes now rather than waiting a couple of years.

“We have been extremely busy in the first half, and I believe this positive sentiment will continue into the second half with focus on the same sectors as in the first half,” Dan Moalem tells Mergermarket, and continues: “What is different now, is that we see private investors with a real hunger for investing in shares, some IPO’s are even many times oversubscribed. Our ECM team has been very busy in the first half, and this will continue into the second half.”

Moalem Weitemeyer’s Corporate Finance Partner Henning Aasmul-Olsen adds: “SPACs have entered the Nordic scene, both locally and out of the US. They are the talk of the town and will fuel both M&A deals and IPOs.”
